Tigers netball club provides competitive and social netball opportunities for all participants who want to play, umpire or coach, and welcome all ages and levels of experience and ability.

Our club values friendship, community spirit, teamwork and respect to all members – from our volunteers to our umpires and parents.

Our Volunteers and Life Members are active and engaged members in our organisation, and we are grateful and thankful for their outstanding contributions to the development of netball with us. Without their support we wouldn’t be able to do. what we do!

Our Club

Our History

Tigers Netball sprung from the long established Balmain Rozelle R.S.L. Youth Club which had organized netball participation for many years. The R.S.L. Club was closing and a group of netball enthusiasts decided to join with another group from Abbotsford Sports Netball Club and form a “boutique club” which came to be named Tigers Netball Club.

Our “small” club entered 25 teams in the Western Suburbs District Netball Association in our first year. The original Office Bearers were Lyn Chalk (President), Laurie Bissaker (Secretary), Karen Hewson (Vice President / Umpires Convenor), Denise Phillipson (Treasurer), Guilia Bonaddio (Coaching Convenor), Sally Bell (Promotions / Publicity Officer) and Shirley Prideaux (Gear Steward).

Our Club has grown in stature over the years. Many of our players have represented the Inner West Netball Association in both junior and senior reps, as have our umpires and coaches. Some of our original executives are still serving our Club, Denise Phillipson, Karen Hewson, and Laurie Bissaker, Laurie was honoured by the NSW Netball Association in 2003, being awarded the Anne Clarke Service Award. Tigers have won many awards over the years for outstanding results and contribution and service to the Inner West Netball Association. We look forward to more people joining our wonderful club and playing this great game of Netball.
